Objective 2

Ability to identify and evaluate technology resources and technical assistance (I.e., those available on-line and on-site within a school and district setting).

The social booking marking assignment that I completed was on the website Delicious. The URL to my Delicious account is https://delicious.com/lesleycornett. While this site was unfamiliar to me prior to my involvement in the educational technology class at the university, it is a site that I am continuously visiting now. For the assignment, I was instructed to create an account and bookmark different sites according to my professor’s specific instructions, and this lasted for approximately 8 weeks. One week I added, or “bookmarked,” sites that had a particular relation to my career as an English teacher, and another week I added resources that delved into understanding of assistive technologies. I also bookmarked sites that incorporated and explained resources that might be helpful to me in the future, and I was able to tag all my bookmarks of websites to keep everything organized. Additionally, other users were able to see my tags as well as webpages, and they could share my bookmarks, too. By the end of the 8-week term, I had all kinds of educational resources that I could implement, use, and share. On the sidebar of my delicious account, I have the option to “discover,” “Network,” and “add link.” One of the ways I have shared and connected with other users on Delicious is through tagging resources dealing with the Common Core initiative. This assignment meets the above objective because Delicious allows people the ability to share different resources and helps them learn more about different technologies and their uses as well as contributes to their proficiency in using and teaching said technologies.
